Xetal 8000 Membrane

Xetal developed Xetal 8000 membrane to cater for the requirements of Approved Document E of the building regulations 2000 "Resistance to the Passage of Sound".

Xetal 8000 provides a simple solution to ensure compliance with the regulations. The message is clear, sound is to be controlled and regulated with costly eradication where failures are revealed by Building Control or Pre Completion Testing (PCT)

In order to achieve the new Dntw figures and be comfortably within the control limits, use can be made of existing building methods with the relatively high cost implications both for additional materials, additional labour costs and reduced floor area. Alternatively Xetal 8000 provides a solution that is lighter, less labour intensive, and achieves Dntw values that exceed the requirements.

Xetal 8000 has an Rw value of 22 dB that when combined with mineral wool and included in the construction of a standard 70 mm stud internal non-load bearing wall, will provide 61 dB sound reduction with a weight factor of just 51.8Kg per square metre.

It must be fully understood that good building practice is most important, simple things like staggering electric sockets and switches, ensuring that there is a good seal to all joints and where pipes and cables pass through walls a good seal is achieved are all important.
