E-COUSTI ECOBOARD DELIVERS IMPRESSIVE RESULTS FOR WILLIAM DAVIS
Neil Richardson, Area Sales Executive from Sheffield Insulations Loughborough and BenTaylor from the Business Development Teamhave been working closely with Loughborough based house builder William Davis Ltd on solutions to meet the requirements of both Parts E & L for several refurbishment projects, providing social
housing in the East Midlands area. The challenge to Sheffield Insulations was to supply solutions that delivered improved performance and cost savings over and above the clients existing methods of build, particularly for compartment floors.
Martyn Tharratt, Project Manager for William Davis commented:
''Working closely with major suppliers such as Sheffield Insulations helps to facilitate a better understanding of each company's business, having an open forum for discussion at the early stages of projects enables William Davis to look at new and innovative methods of construction at a time where designs can be changed to the benefit of our company.''
One such project in which these working practices have been applied is a large
refurbishment job at Gower Street in Derby, involving the refurbishment of 50 apartments. The specification put forward by the architect was for an extremely robust and therefore costly overlay treatment for an existing concrete floor. The architect, quite rightly, wanted to be sure that the system he detailed was sufficient in order to achieve a pass upon the pre completion test being conducted.
From the experience gained on other similar projects Neil and Ben were confident that Ecoboard could deliver the results that the contractor required whilst at the same time reducing the cost of the materials. As this was the first in a line of projects where Ecoboard could potentially be specified it was important that the pre completion test achieved a good result for both airborne and impact sound.
Figures received by Greg Wood, Project Manager for William Davis, showed 53 RwdB+Ctr for airborne and 52 LnTw dB for impact, well in excess of the minimum requirements for a pass and an excellent result achieved through the use of a quality product and a high standard of workmanship.
With a number of other prestigious projects soon to be underway, the future looks
bright for this particular partnership. The social housing team at William Davis can be confident that the guidance provided by Sheffield Insulations delivers solutions
that work and both parties look forward to the exciting opportunities these new
projects create.
